As a medical scientist in the Haematology lab. I was fully trained in blood film investigations (both paediatric and adult) as well as kleihauer preparations and examinations. I also did much of the stock taking and ordering from medical suppliers. I received training on the ACL TOP coagulation analyser platform as well as the sysmex xn20 platform. I performed routine maintenance, troubleshooting and testing on these analysers on a daily basis and became very familiar with them. I was intrusted with lone work in this lab, where I did both opening and closing shifts on my own.

I am currently in an internship in Belgium where I am working in a tissue engineering lab. In this lab I am researching the efficacy of various methods of physical decellularization on porcine skeletal muscles to ascertain the best methods of removing cells from a tissue whilst maintaining the extracellular matrix and parenchyma so that effective re-cellularization may be achieved in a transplant setting.

As a student medical scientist and a medical Laboratory technician at Beaumont, I spent 6 weeks placement in the histo pathology, haematology, biochemistry, blood transfusion and microbiology departments. During my time there I had hands on experience and experience many specialised areas of medical science such as Molecular diagnostics, Category 3 pathogen labs, autopsy, neuro-histo-pathology and point of care testing. I maintained a good relationship with my colleagues and was hired back as a full-time medical lab technician in the haematology lab until my studies in university commenced again. As a technician, I lead an internal audit and validation of the manual platelet counting techniques performed in routine blood film screening, including calculating and validating a new platelet derived factor. I processed samples daily and conducted specialised testing such as lateral flow testing for malaria and EBV infections.

As a sales representative in Swatch, I was the face of the company. I ensure that every customer who entered the shop was welcomed by a friendly face with a kind demeanour. I had to have good knowledge about each product including some complex timepieces, I also needed good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with my team and the customer. Part of my job included covering the luxury department of the store in a different site where I would sell luxury watches including tissot and omega. I had a very good sales record compared with my peers.
