I work remotely with a small team of engineers on the server side of Medaxion Pulse, a mobile EHR app for anesthesiologists. Responsibilities include updating the mobile API and web based UI to add new features, improving code quality and readability, fixing bugs, reviewing pull requests of fellow engineers and offering feedback, incorporating feedback from my fellow engineers on my pull requests, and doing my part to make Medaxion an awesome place to work.

I worked with a team of remote Ruby developers developing our Rails based SaaS products. My primary focus was working with two other developers to build a new application, strictly adhering to clean code and TDD principals, that would integrate with our primary product.

I worked with a small team creating and maintaining web based Ruby on Rails applications supporting K-12 education professionals. I regularly worked on both solo projects and in closely coordinated group efforts requiring excellent communication skills among team members. I actively participated in innumerable feature enhancements, code refactorings and upgrades from Rails 1.1.4 to 3.2.0.

Predominantly responsible for implementing interfaces to third party applications including mobile “in car” computers and queries to state/national crime databases. Designed, built and maintained an external website giving clients secure access to restricted data on multiple internal databases tracking support requests. Developed scripts to assist other departments in solving unique problems with data conversions and troubleshooting.

Established and managed a one-man remote medical equipment maintenance shop in Bad Kreuznach, Germany from February 1995 through July 1996. Provided medical equipment repair and calibration support for 2 medical clinics, 3 dental clinics and 2 veterinary clinics serving a combined military community of more than 40,000 personnel and their families. Transferred to the U.S. Military's top tier European medical equipment maintenance facility in July 1996 to work with 15-20 other medical equipment specialists supporting smaller shops throughout the European theater. Demonstrated an ability to assume large responsibilities and solve problems on my own as well as work as part of a larger team. Awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
