Designing, building and implementing an automated vision system to a camshaft casting production line to detect faulty sand cast molds. Project reduced scrap components by 43% and had a direct labour saving of one operator.

Determined the feasibility of introducing an automated continuous oven curing process for brake shoe linings. Project included designing, developing and prototyping a new tooling application. Reduced curing time from 6hrs to 20mins, material waste saving of £94,000 annually, energy saving of £11,000 annually and direct labour saving of three operators.

Improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of a machining cell made up of 15 high volume machines. 36% reduction in changeover time through introducing of Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) implemented a Kanban system for the consumable tooling area and established 5S in the SMED area.

The SHL Group is the world's largest privately owned designer, developer and manufacturer of advanced drug delivery devices. I undertook a one-year industrial placement within SHLs technology department, working with a team to develop, design and manufacture medical instruments.
