Reporting to the Vice President of Operations challenged to convert a very batch oriented, highly complex, long lead-time business model to a lean, responsive, customer focused, efficient model focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Reduced inventory over 30% in a three year period while improving OTC from less the 60% to over 90%, while lowering lead-time from 13+ weeks to a constant four to six weeks. Reduced raw material costs each year by 5% for three consecutive years thru aggressive negotiations with major suppliers, and leveraging spend throughout the entire HON Industries family of companies.Led or participated in over 50 lean events focused on front office processes eliminating waste in order management, accounts payable, account receivable, purchasing, planning, engineering, and transportation and logistics. Directed and managed a 1M square foot high volume metal office furniture manufacturing facility. Responsible for Production, Accounting, Material Management, Engineering, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Customer Service in a 600 member union facility with P&L responsibility. Developed and implemented Lean manufacturing concepts resulting in a 50% inventory reduction and a lead-time reduction from 12 to three weeks. Introduced a five day quick ship program with no finished goods inventory.Reduced cost of material as a percentage of sales from 34% to 29% leveraging corporate spend and qualifying new suppliers.Negotiated three labor contracts with the IAMAW Union without any work stoppages gaining very favorable work rules to support lean manufacturing initiatives.
