I am a highly-skilled and accomplished executive having held numerous high-profile President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer roles in the aviation industry over the course of a 40+ year career. My extensive domestic and international experience involved directing flight operations on the ground and in the air for Delta, Horizon and Alaska Airlines. As an experienced and qualified negotiator, I worked with the Airline Pilot Association and other Labor Unions to negotiate new contracts, testified at the Senate and House hearings in support of Greener Skies and Next Gen activities, implemented multiple industry-defining safety and training programs, worked as a System Chief Pilot and as Captain on multiple Boeing aircraft with over 15,000 flight hours. As a leader I have always been passionate about the care and safety of my teammates as well as our guests. I bring a strategic, operational, fiscal and innovation-led approach to my teams with a high bar for service and profitability. At Alaska Airlines I served as Chief Operating Officer overseeing all 5 Operating divisions, for our 17,000 employees and 45 million guests with an emphasis on continuous improvement, leading safety-standards and best-in-class service. My role also coincided with the Global Covid-19 Pandemic, where I was responsible for the reduction in all operational costs during a period of never-seen-before uncertainty that helped keep the company stay fiscally sound.Prior to that I served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Air responsible for driving the strategy that strengthened the airline’s position as a valued partner for Alaska Airlines with an emphasis on safety, reliability and profitability. At Delta Airlines, after serving as Chief Pilot, I became Senior Vice-President of Flight Operations responsible for 2,000 daily departures and 8,500 pilots at six pilot bases before becoming President and CEO of Delta’s Connection Academy in Orlando, FL, one of the largest pilot training facilities in the world. I was responsible for reorganizing the Flight Operations Division at Delta to a leaner and more efficient division realizing a cost-reduction of 27% on a $2.2bn operating plan, successfully designing and implementing RNAV SIDS and STARS at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport, the busiest airport in the world.I reside in Seattle WA and Pasadena CA with my wife, two kids and a grandson where I enjoy sailing and trying to keep my handicap below 20.
