I Joined the RNLI in 1974 as a volunteer. In 2001 I became a full time employee as Training Mechanic based in the RNLI Training college in Poole. I am currently employed as a Divisional Assessor Trainer for the RNLI England North / Scotland South Responsible for coastal training and assessment of Lifeboat Crews on station. My present area covers from Berwick upon Tweed to Filey on the East Coast and St Bees to Portpatrick on the West Coast. Holding the external SVQ A1 Assessing qualification allows us to assess our Lifeboat crews to the highest standards. I have also just completed my L&D 11 Internal Verifiers Qualification. This will allow QA verification of our local assessors, policies and procedures.Other roles include the examination of candidates for the RYA Short range certificate.
