U.S. Silica is a leading producer of industrial minerals, supplying high-grade silica, kaolin and aplite domestically and internationally. Better Minerals & Aggregates is a holding company formed in 1999 as the corporate vehicle to expand through acquisitions into the aggregates market and for the purpose of issuance of high yield public debt. Actively involved in all operations of the company, including direct responsibility over quality control, purchasing and logistics within U.S. Silica, when the business grew through organic growth by 20% (in a flat market). Member of the senior management team responsible for the 1996 divestiture of the company from Rio Tinto, plc to private equity ownership in a leveraged transaction and I subsequently led the efforts to obtain publicly traced bonds in a 144 (a) offering to support our aggressive acquisition strategy.
