Chef Gary F. Bonderenko Ayala: A Culinary Journey from Puerto Rico to ColoradoPuerto Rican chef with over two decades of experience in the food and beverage industry. My culinary journey began in my native island Puerto Rico, where I started washing dishes and worked my way up through the ranks without formal culinary schooling. Driven by passion and determination, I honed my skills in various kitchens, eventually earning the role of Sous Chef.In the wake of Hurricane Maria's devastation in 2017, I made the pivotal decision to relocate to Colorado. This move marked a significant chapter in my career as I joined the prestigious Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, a 5-Star, 5-Diamond establishment, where I took on the role of Lead Line Cook. My time at the Broadmoor allowed me to further develop my culinary techniques and gain invaluable experience in a high-pressure, world-class environment.After leaving CO Springs I moved to Vail Colorado, where I began working at the luxurious Sonnenalp Hotel. Currently I serve as the Executive Chef at the Sonnenalp Club where I continues to elevate the dining experience blending my Puerto Rican heritage with local flavors and ingredients, creating innovative dishes that delight guests.
