Project Title: Investigating the role and regulation of Neuron Restrictive Silencing Factor during epileptogenesis.This project involves elucidating the molecular mechanisms governing NRSF expression in the brain and determining why this regulation is altered during epileptogenesis, with a focus on non-coding RNA regulatory mechanisms.

Project Title: Exploration of the function of 14-3-3 proteins in ER stress and seizure-induced neuronal death in a transgenic mouse model.This project involved the phenotypic characterisation of a transgenic mouse overexpressing 14-3-3zeta ubiquitously and further determination of the effects of this over-expression, if any, on the endoplasmic stress response and seizure-induced neuronal death. A combination of molecular and physiological approaches were employed, including western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry and stereotaxic surgeries.
