Project OverviewThe overview of the Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Phase 3 project (Project) is to procure, install and commission the required components of a modern SCADA system on the National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) electric grid in PakistanThe project objective is to have a fully functioning SCADA and Energy Management System (EMS).This project will include completing past SCADA projects like the JICA funded Load Despatch System Upgrading Project (LDSUP) to have a complete functional SCADA system and communication links/meters at every revenue recording point in the NTDC grid.When completed, this project will allow the NTDC visibility of all energy coming onto the NTDC Grid as well as all energy dropping off the NTDC Grid to Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and Bulk Power Consumers (BPCs)

Recommendations from Remedial Design were accepted by the board and $175M project was commenced.

Responsibilities Cutover Management of Distribution and Outage Management System (DOMS) Business Go-Live Cutover activities including transition to the business. DOMS was a ~$100M project and I was part of a team brought in to transition the solution to the business. Achievements: Successful cutover one day ahead of schedule. This cutover was the final step in a phased implementation of DOMS and represented the culmination of months of cut over preparation. Management of stakeholders and end users during the implementation of a large transformation to the business.

SA Water standardised all their SCADA implementations to a single SCADA Standard. Stage 1 of the project involved 11 sites with 55000 tags and 2500 pictures. My role was to ensure that all sites are upgraded in compliance with the TS1000 Single SCADA Standard. I was also responsible for the Technical Lead role for the complex upgrade.This was complicated by the required use of multiple integrators, SA Water IS liaison, SA Water business structure changes and parallel works to meet the mandated deadline.Achievements: Successful delivery of the program of works in a complex environment. SA Water IS limitations and vendor software issues also hampered the project and had to be worked through at a technical level.

Program timeline was very tight and vendor delivery to scope and schedule were crucial for the success of the program. AMI government mandate was not changeable which meant vendors had to be managed very closely and at times rigorously.
