I founded Pre-Construct Archaeology in 1993 and have since that date overseen its expansion and consolidation within the archaeological and built heritage sector. I first became involved in archaeological fieldwork in my schooldays, but after graduation have worked almost exclusively from London, with a 2 year sojourn as an assistant field officer in Lincolnshire. I have always been keen to demonstrate that the company expands on delivering core archaeological services and to offer a national capability. To this end I have brought key personnel into the company including 4 Directors, 5 dynamic Archaeological Project Managers, a Built Heritage Manager, a Business Development Manager, and experts in the fields of artefact and ecofact analysis, graphics, surveying, photography and post-site reporting and publication. In addition I oversaw the establishment of offices in Durham, Cambridgeshire, Market Harborough, and Winchester in order to provide cost-effective operations in other parts of the UK. I have also sought to use PCA’s operational and specialist services in collaborative ventures with other similarly minded and professional archaeological units across the UK, for example: Belfast, Bristol, Glasgow, Ipswich and in London the Olympics and Thameslink.My key specialisations include promotion of PCA especially through product deliverability, the procurement and project management of large fieldwork projects, (although once procured I may then transfer responsibility for execution of the project to others, for example Southwark Cathedral and Kings Cross Goods Yard). I actively managed the delivery of archaeological fieldwork at the 2012 Olympic Park/LLV regeneration site.I am responsible for providing archaeological services to a wide variety of clients including local authorities and private companies for infrastructure, housing, retail, and industrial projects.
