Support and provide detailed technical advice to the National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) KSA to ensure its compliance with United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) Decisions 258 and 269, including assessment of proposed Remediation and Restoration Program measures and modifications. These relate to coastal and terrestrial remediation activities authorised by the UNCC as a result substantial environmental damage caused during the Iraqi invasion and subsequent Gulf War.

Development of habitat classification scheme for the UAE, identification of habitats of conservation concern, recommendations for biodiversity conservation, also in the light of climate change.• Beacon Development, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), KSA. Principal Ecologist for the terrestrial biodiversity work, responsible for the collection of baseline data for two mega-project areas (“NEOM” and “Red Sea”) along the Red Sea coast ( > 50,000 sq. km), identification of potential protected areas, suggestion of mitigation / enhancement measures, development of terrestrial habitat maps and other relevant data to feed into the EIA (full-time employment).• Elard, Dubai. Principal Ecologist for the terrestrial biodiversity work, responsible for the collection of baseline data from 7 protected areas in Dubai Emirate and for technical input into the Environmental Management Plans for these areas. Preparation of detailed habitat maps for the 7 protected areas.• Biodata, Mainz, Germany Specialist assignment to identify and map species-rich meadows of EU conservation concern near Ulmen (Eifel), Germany (pilot project).• Ecodit, Lebanon / UAE: Responsible for writing the Biodiversity and Fisheries section of the State of the Environment Report for the Executive Council, Dubai, UAE.• BNL / DLR-Bad Krueznach, Germany: Assessment of meadows and arable fields as part of a state-sponsored conservation scheme to enhance biodiversity in Rhineland-Palatinate.• BNL / Stiftung Natur und Umwelt Rheinland-Pfalz: Mapping of key higher plants and Sphagnum (peat moss) species in 7 bog areas in the Rhineland-Palatinate as part of the EU-Life programme "Moore in Hunsrück und Eifel).

Kuwait

Senior Technical Consultant to the Kuwait National Focal Point (KNFP), supporting the KNFP with the technical management of the United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC)-funded “Kuwait Environmental Remediation Program” (KERP), one of the largest restoration projects in the world.Specifically charged with assisting the KNFP and its stakeholders in project planning and supervision of the UNCC-funded desert remediation and restoration programme, including of oil- and tarcrete-contaminated areas, providing technical guidance and support as required, based on scientifically sound facts and in accordance with the guidelines of UNCC Decision 258.

Responsible for providing expert technical guidance to the National Focal Point of Saudi Arabia for their terrestrial restoration and remediation activities, reviewing and assessing all documents (technical, administrative and financial) relating to the programme that are submitted by the NFP Saudi Arabia to the UNCC, and providing detailed technical advice and recommendations for consideration by the United Nations Compensation Commission / UN Security Council.
