Previously interim and new permanent CEO I have been employed to ensure the voice of the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector is heard, especially in the conversations surrounding integration of health & social care. The Community Sector has a lot to offer in a world where demand is ever increasing, budgets are being cut and where support for those needing care needs to be based on communities and people's strengths, not just clinical interventions. Working with senior leaders from local authority and health partners gives me a unique viewpoint in understanding the issues. My ability to grasp the details but to then apply strategic solutions working with CWVA members is leading to some exciting developments.

This was a brand new initiative in June 2020. Inclusive Community Development was founded by two social enterprise and charity professionals who recognised significant gaps in social care provision for disabled people, particularly those undergoing transition from children's services to adult provision. At the heart of ICD is working with community partners to ensure that autistic people can fully engage with and contribute to their local community.

This gave me time not only to create new opportunities for the organisation I originally founded in 1997 but also enabled me to look for new opportunities to create social impact. I have now moved on leaving the organisation strong and in good hands.

I joined Valroum Foundation as interim MD to help initiate a new organisation whose vision is to give a voice and provide opportunities for engagement in social enteprise activities for those with disabilities, especially residents within the Valorum Care Group services. They now need a full time MD to move the vision forward. I know they will do great things and I will follow with great interest.

Winsford

I founded this charity in 2011 with partner Deina Smith and acted as CEO until 2019. The purpose of CLiC was to facilitate the reuse of donated household furniture and electrical items at affordable and realistic prices whilst creating supported employment and volunteer opportunities for members of the local community who needed a leg up (those with physical and learning difficulties, those looking for employment, those on community payback schemes (probation) and school placements) or people wanting to give something back.This is what I do best – initiating exciting community based projects that generate trading and training income as well as social impact and then delivering the detailed implementation.

Gary’s skills in partnership working made him an ideal project manager for this new and interesting project. Gary was Walk London Strategic Walks Project Manager for The Corporation of London managing the continued development of the 550km long Strategic Walk Network, an important part of The Mayor’s transport strategy for London to be the walking capital of Europe by 2015. This involved the coordination of 33 London Boroughs, 6 route managers and the regular pulling together of multi million pound bids for funding which in 2003 and then again in 2007 required one of the largest, most detailed, audits ever undertaken of a walking network. The 10 year project resulted in a walking network to bring green spaces closer to those living and working in London.

Gary worked with colleagues to found Walk England.Walk England was established as a social enterprise to work in partnerships across the country to create local opportunities for people to choose to walk, to walk more often, to walk to more places, and to feel safe while doing so.Walk England promotes walking as a way to be healthy, travel and relax - by bringing together and inspiring people who want to walk more, with those health, transport and environmental professionals responsible for supporting their choice.Gary left them to pursue his other more local interests in Cheshire

Gary was Co-Founder of Furniture Finders of Winsford (originally started in 1997) – a not for profit furniture reuse project. A new era began when Changing Lives in Cheshire was launched as a new charity and social enterprise to take on the work of FFoW. What we do is much better captured in the new name!

Gary worked with many companies and organisations. Acted as Company Secretary and financial manager for The Access Company (www.theaccesscompany.com) to provide consultancy services to the countryside sector. Gary was responsible for introducing ‘BizFizz’ to Winsford in 2004, (www.bizfizz.org.uk) the project employing a Business Coach to help those in disadvantaged areas who have hobbies, dreams or interests, turn these into businesses. Gary was Chairman of the Local Management Group. This was partnership working at its best, needing the networking skills Gary brings to all his projects.

Managing Director of a start up web, print and multimedia business with his brothers. Gary still enjoys using web based technologies to make for a more efficient working environment. Don't get him started on his Google Strategy, use of Remember The Milk to manage tasks across an organisation, Dropbox & Google Drive to manage data and shared collaboration all brought together through his beloved Smart Phone Phablet........there I told you not to get him started :-)

Responsibilities: Advising investment specialists on the movement of world markets, economic conditions and investment prospects, seminar presentations to large and small groups, one to one sales presentations, achievement of investment sales targets in S.E. and then N.W. England, motivation /management of 23 consultants, liaison with 4 branch management teams in formulation and enactment of business plans, active role in product design, sales training (both locally and nationally) and developing national marketing plans.
