Provision of RN engineering expertise to surface ships, visiting foreign ships and commercial ships as required, either planned or short notice. Carrying out planned and corrective maintenance tasks and fault diagnosis. Observing health and Safety including, Risk Assessments, Safe systems of Work, highlighting any deficiencies or inconsisencies that may have an adverse effect on ships operational capabilities. Acting as a Team Leader, managing personnel and work delegated, liaising with contractors and ships staff to ensure completion of tasks to accepted standards and on time.

Marine Engineering Department Coordinator responsible for human resources (managing career aspirations and development needs) for 38 specialist marine engineers. Also acting as the Department Health and Safety Represntative dealing with, Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH and Marpol Regulations.

Disposal And Reserve Ships Organisation, Portsmouth Dockyard

Responsible for the day to day control, care and maintenance of up to 11 redundant warships. Also undertaking the task of disposal preperations and on board project manager during the run-down ships, instructing and guiding members of the Ships Companies in the tasks required, surveying and inspecting the ships compartments and structure to ascertain safe condition for lay-up prior to sale. The foregoing involved a wide range of tasks from ballasting vessels for ocean tow, oversight of hundreds of equipment removals in support of operational ships.
