The role mainly consists of conducting a series of inspections and testing activities to ensure Ships/MOU's comply with Classification rules, IMO/Statutory regulations and HSE guidelines.Competent in the following disciplines:-- Electrical engineering- Mechanical engineering- Control systems engineering- Dynamic Positioning/FMEA

After completing my apprenticeship I moved on to the role of Combat Systems Engineer then Lead Engineer, main responsibilities included:-- Customer and Supplier interaction- Raising and investigation defects- Analyse defects and provide recommendation- Ensure work complied with correct safety procedures and risk assessments- Understanding of Electro/Mechanical System including slip rings, servo motors and resolvers- Understanding of Thermal Imagers, Lasers and Daylight TV camera functionality - Witnessing of Factory Acceptance Tests- Conduct Harbour & Sea Trials- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks- Interpret Technical Specifications and Drawings- Report and Schedule Writing - Electrical/Mechanical Alignment using Theodolites and Clinometers

Towards the end of my Electrical Apprenticeship I was selected to join the Technical Apprentice scheme. This involved working in different areas in the Shipyard such as Combat Systems, Test & Commissioning, Drawing Office and Detailed Design.

- Cable dressing- Terminating- Wire checking and fault finding.
