I have sound project management skills and experience, backed with qualifications, gained in the delivery of complex systems, leading multi-cultural teams, in both Industrial Automation and Telecommunications. As part of a continuous improvement philosophy I embarked and completed an Open University MBA that was self funded and carried out in leisure time. I am also a Prince2 practitioner.I have successfully moved my Project/Programme Management skills from Industrial Automation into Telecommunications and worked on major projects in 6 different countries thus demonstrating the ability to adapt my skills and competencies across very different industries and cultures.

On completion of the assignments of O&M Director, between 2012 and 2015 – which took longer than anticipated due to the late opening of the airport (opened in April 2014 instead of December 2012) I was assigned as the General Manager of Beumer Doha (Crisplant) initially with the main task of closing out new and existing claims on the main passenger terminal, the crew system and the Qatar Airways Maintenance Hanger. Moving onto the development of the business and managing/bidding major new projects within Doha and the UAE with a view to returning to a Project Director position on a major contract.

Assignments was to (without any previous O&M experience)At DIA – to take over the management of the existing O&M contracts at the old airportAt HIA – to set up and run the O&M organisation for the BHS Projects (main passenger terminal, crew terminal and the Qatar Airways Maintenance Hanger). Going live with the aforementioned new airport facilities, through the defects liability period, gaining full acceptance from the employer, engineer and the main contractors – achieving the final acceptance certificates by meeting all contracted requirements including full achievement of all O&M KPI's and then starting the five years O&M contracts. The role required the employment and deployment of 129 staff and the development and running of practically all the business systems, welfare systems and facilities.Final acceptance was achieved at the earliest allowable time in the contract, which was the 29 July 2015.

Nominated Subcontractor (NSC) Project Manager of the Specialist Equipment (S+E) for the New Doha International Airport (NDIA) Catering Facility.Assignment is to manage the coordinated design and build through to implementation (of operations) of 9 NSC’s S+E contracts (QR 400 million). Systems have to be designed independently (fit for purpose) but at the same time coordinated together and into the new catering facility building.Initially, due to my previous experience, my CV was used in the tender package to prove competency in the proposed senior project management team. On award I joined the project and set up the NSC coordination team. Practically all NSC scopes include mechanical, electrical and control systems. In the main the scope of supply consists of - In House Logistics (bin/pallet conveyors with high bay stores), Cart Transportation System (overhead electric mono rail), Ware Wash System (21 ware wash machines plus central dosing and controls), Vacuum Waste System, Food Production Equipment (over 3000 pieces of equipment), Stainless Steel Equipment, Cold Room and Refrigeration (plant and controls to service 194 free standing refrigeration consumer pieces plus 77 cold/freezer rooms), Dry Cleaning/Laundry Plant and a Food Laboratory.

At the same time maintaining the contractual position and managing the time, cost and quality of the processes and deliverables.The deliverables being a working baggage handling system which consists of 228 check in counters, 14 claim carrousels, 23km of belt conveyor, 68km of tray system and 17,000 drives designed to carry 43 million passengers/year at 14,000 bags/hour with max transfer/departure time of 25 minutes. Controlled by 140 PLC’s and 35 safety PLC’s.

The PCS is split into two systems namely Cart Management Control System (CMCS) and a Stores Management Control System (SMCS); A PLC control system consisting ten modicon 984 785 E in fourteen control panel suites with approx. 10,000 I/O; A plant visualisation system:- Control and Monitoring System (CMS) operating on two HP Vectra’s running Factory Link.An overhead Power and Free conveying system approx. 6000 Mts. long designed to hold 600 hangers with nineteen charging and discharging station. A bin system approx. 1000 Mts. in length with seventeen charging and discharging stations, eighteen lift sections, three storage systems consisting of two buffer stores serviced by three 25 kg cranes with a total of 10,000 storage positions and a high bay warehouse serviced by two 25 kg cranes with 13,500 storage positions. A pallet conveyor and storage system consisting of 150 Mts. of conveyor, four work stations, one lift section and a high bay warehouse with 3500 pallet storage positions serviced by two 1500 kg cranes.
