About Gary Dell
I am a versatile freelance Director and Producer specialising in, and with considerable experience of, productions that use multi-camera production techniques. With a background in Studio & Outside Broadcast Floor Management and Production Management, I am available to work across a wide range of programme types.Although I provide my services primarily to productions that use these resources, this is by no means exclusive. But over 75% of the productions that I have worked on have either been live or as-live and, by the very nature of their subjects, have used multi-resource production techniques giving me considerable skills in this type of production genre. I am experienced in directing for broadcast, business television transmissions, webcasts, large-screen presentation, media pool-feeds and recordings of conferences & events, as well as standard studio or location recordings.Since 2012, I have also been applying this production experience to radio & audio content. This includes freelance producing; podcast creation and production; specialist-genre content production for use by community, uber-local and online-only radio stations; and the provision of broadcast-standard news and features from the charity, community and not-for-profit sectors. I also provide a service to organisations in these sectors connecting them and their stories with BBC and Commercial local radio. I have also produced and presented for Restricted Service Licence and Online radio stations.I am also available for work where knowledge and experience of live or as-live Studio, Outside Broadcast or Event production is essential, but where the role doesn’t necessarily involve ’hands-on’ production craft skills. An example of this is my work since 2010 as part of the BBC Elections Results Team.
