About Gary Derheim
π Hi, I'm Gary, just a person who has made a ton of mistakes in a 30 year career, but fortunately has learned quite a bit from every one of them!I was an "IBM kid", meaning I moved 5 times growing up from Los Angeles, to New York, to Albuquerque, NM, to Dallas, TX and to Tucson, AZ. I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Marketing.My career started in direct sales with geographic territories, then into larger account management, then into Business Development. I learned I was better at building services and helping sellers sell them than me selling on my own. This may have cost me money, but happily changed my career forever in a fulfilling way.I've spent the past 20+ years building, operating, marketing and selling Managed Services for Information Technology Services companies. I love identifying market needs, crafting services, building teams and engaging with clients who have needs that our services can address.The most challenging part of my career also is what became the most rewarding. In 2017, the Managed Services business unit I led was part of a company that went bankrupt and immediately ceased operations. Not good.Instead of pack up shop and admit defeat, I was able to help steer client contracts and over 20 people to a company with a vision that had recently started. That was PTP.PTP today is a forward-thinking, fast-moving, value-delivering AWS cloud consulting company helping life sciences companies manage their data so they can get treatments and therapies to market faster.I love my role at PTP, am honored to work for such a talented company and appreciate every day that I have the opportunity to contribute to our vision.
