After much deliberation i have finally retired from work. It was a big decision to make but the time is right. Thankyou to all my friends and colleagues at Wrekin Construction and JN Bentley who i have had great pleasure working with over the last 46 years. I also think of and remember those friends and colleagues who are no longer here with us and who i have had the honour to have worked with during that time.

I worked on a part-time basis. My role involvd working alongside our design, commercial and site teams in producing, developing, monitoring, updating and reviewing project programmes at both major and core project level. My role also included providing planning and planning software usage training and assisting with the development and implementation stage of our Planning and Cost Efficiency Strategy. My role and experience provided advice, assistance and support to our project management teams as part of our continuous improvement process.

My role involved, producing, analysing and providing a mangement overview of the whole programme of works, associated with our water industry client. I was also involved in collating and reporting performance management data, providing planning assistance to our site and design teams, including training in both major and core projects covering both clean and waste water.

As a Senior Planner, I was a member of the estimating team primarily involved in producing tender programmes, prequalification documents and quality submission documents. As Chief Planner, i managed the planning department, responsible for co-ordinating and managing resource cost and usage, developing planning policy, developing and rolling out training across the organisation and overseeing the planning of strategic schemes. I also had a 2 year spell from 2000 to 2001 where i was asked to undertake the role of Contracts Manager, managing a number of civil engineering contracts within the highways and water industry sectors, during a particularly busy period

I commenced work in 1972, and during this period gained sufficient managerial and construction skills and experience to enable me to manage some of the companies largest single schemes together with smaller satellite schemes. These years provided a strong base for me to specialise in later years. The final year of this period before i moved into planning involved working within the Utility section of the company helping to design the processes and procedures that allowed our telecommunications client to completely change the way they contracted out their works
