About Gary Dodson
Director of a skilled team responsible for the digital security of a 4-year university, I have been in information security for over 6 years. With the constantly and rapidly evolving security and threat landscape, the learning never ends. The complex and permissive environment presented by academic workplaces present special challenges to cyber-defenders. Among the challenges are increased regulation, such as GLBA and new State laws, evolving threats leveraging AI, and the proliferation of supply-chain threats and Malware/Ransomware-as-a-Service. Some of my teams recent achievements include:* Strengthening authentication with Multifactor at all levels of access* Establishing a methodical vendor risk assessment process for all new and existing technologies* Increasing visibility and response with robust EDR and logging tools* Establishing a formal Records Retention Committee with wide campus stakeholder involvement.
