With over 16 years of work experience in the chemical industry, I am a seasoned and skilled operations supervisor with a BS in industrial technology. I have a strong background in computer-aided design (CAD) and SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, which enable me to manage and monitor the production processes and workflows effectively. I am also committed to continuous learning and improvement, and I enjoy collaborating with my team and other departments to achieve our goals and overcome challenges. As an operations supervisor at Valero, I oversee the daily operations of batch and continuous units, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. I also coordinate and supervise the activities of the operations team, providing guidance, feedback, and training as needed. Operations SupervisorValero Nov 2007 - Dec 2023Norco, Louisiana, United StatesI started as an outside operator in the coker unit, then progressed as a console operator. Once my knowledge of the overall process was effieceient I then became a step up supervisor. I spent a year in the supervisor role, while another team member was on turnaround planning. In the Coker I was an instrumental part of a 100 day turnaround where we completed a 4 drum change out that required attention to detail, large lock out tag outs, several hazardous permits, and communicationn with all refinery personnel. I then got promoted to the Alky unit as a supervisor. I had very little knowledge of the process, due to only working in the Coker all prior years. I got the position, and had to supervise more experienced operators that had also applied for the job within the unit. I used my personal skills, communication, and hard work to assure the team could count on me and I wanted everyone to be successful. I learned the C4 alky and was qualified in all position including the console. We then started the first C5 alky where I qualified in each position including the console. As a supervisor I used SAP, all Microsoft platforms, verified LOTO, conducted daily meetings over the work schedule, conducted daily audits on jobs, verified scheduling and overtime coverage, communicated with safety, upper management, and all other units of the refinery. My daily goal overall was to assure everyone was safe and all work was getting done according to our companies SOPs, and guidelines. -
