In the UK, Miele is the market leader in the high value/high reliability segment of the domestic appliance market and also has a significant presence in the commercial laundry market. As Service Director, I had full P&L and operational responsibility for the Service Division of Miele in the UK. This organisation included the Field Service group, the Service Call Centre, the Customer Services department, an in-house Vacuum Cleaner repair operation, the Miele Technical department, the Miele spare parts warehouse facility and the in-house workshop. -
European Service DirectorWaters Corporation Apr 1987 - Apr 1999I joined Waters as a Key Account Specialist in 1987 and progressed through the organisation during my 12-year employment, including five years as UK Divisional Financial Controller. In my final role as European Service Director I directly managed the European Repair and Manufacturing facility in Strasbourg and was responsible for developing and implementing the Corporation’s post sales strategy through the 15 subsidiaries across Europe. The Service group across Europe was made up of approximately 100 field engineers plus local administration teams. With a turnover of $35m, the goal was to both maximise the Service business directly and to provide a competitive advantage for the capital instrument sales group.
