Mr. Gladstone serves as a Senior Unix/Storage Administrator supporting system engineering and data center relocations. Specifically, Gary is working on translating a logical engineering process into physical systems. He is also working on developing a HW/SW budget for these systems as well as the build out. Additionally, Gary developed a physical and logical server/storage inventory of a commercial data center to support moving their headquarters. This work included conducting interviews with system, storage and application administrators and developers to document all servers and applications and their interconnections in support of data center relocations. This resulted in a successful data center relocation with a minimum amount of system downtime.

Mr. Gladstone serves as a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator on the Base Technologies contract in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). As such, Mr. Gladstone installs, configures, and provides Tier 3 and 4 support for Sun Solaris, Brocade DCX class switching, and RedHat systems. He provides support for over 1000+ Solaris, RedHat, and AIX servers. Mr. Gladstone provided system administration in an environment made up of a cluster of ES40's running OpenVMS (V7.2-1) and two ES40's and four DS20's running Tru64 (V5.1 A). He was responsible for the full system management of these systems, wherein he instituted a change control management system to keep accurate records of all system changes. His was responsible for patch management and the successful upgraded of all systems for use in Secure Shell replacing telnet and ftp. Mr. Gladstone was responsible for configuring the SAN switches and configuring disks at the HSG80 controller level, using Raid-5 and Raid-0+1 and for VERITAS Netbackup on the Tru64 machines. He wrote a recommendation, developed the project plan, and implemented TapeSys for controlling backups on the OpenVMS machines. Also, he developed a project plan and implemented an upgrade of the VERITAS Netbackup master server from Windows NT to Windows 2000 and then upgraded VERITAS Netbackup from V3.4 to V 4.5.

OpenVMS/Tru64 Systems Administrator on Assignment at NRTCAs a consultant in an environment made up of a cluster of ES40's running OpenVMS and ES40's and DS20's running Tru64, Mr. Gladstone was primarily responsible for the full system management of the OpenVMS machines. He specifically, connected the last pair of HSG80 controllers to the SAN switch, configured the controllers, and finally configured them into the proper zoning configuration. He reconfigured the SAN switches from a two fabric topology to a single fabric topology. Mr. Gladstone was responsible for configuring the disks at the HSG80 controller level, configuring disks using Raid-5 and Raid-0+1.

Mr. Gladstone provided full system management for 35 computer systems consisting of Sun Solaris' and OpenVMS VAX/Alpha clusters. System management included setting up new accounts, system security, monitoring disk space usage (-500GB), managed mass storage device (500 CD Optical Jukebox), backups, daily system checks, hardware troubleshooting, etc. He developed a project plan for upgrading the OpenVMS clusters from OpenVMS 6.2 to OpenVMS 7.2-1 and successfully implemented the upgrade on the development systems. Mr. Gladstone recommended purchasing VERITAS Datacenter Netbackup for the Sun Solaris systems and successfully implemented same. He also implemented Tapesys for automated backup -of OpenVMS clusters and installed security tools on Sun Solaris development machines.

ITSpecialist - UNIX/VMS Systems AdministrationMr. Gladstone provided full system management for Sun Solaris, HP-UX, VAX/VMS cluster (legacy), Alpha VMS; legacy) systems. He supported IT/O Openview. Setup, configured, and supported five Sun Solaris systems. He setup and configured HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00 systems and supported IT/O. As an IT Specialist, he was involved in a project that upgraded storage on Sun and HP Systems to EMC, upgraded memory, installed Solaris Y2K patch kits, and installed VMS Y2K patch kits and installed and configured Patrol. Configured VistaPlus to capture all finance reports from SAP. He defined reports in VistaPlus so in an effort to ensure that they were presented to the users in same format as the old printed reports. He setup Telalert and integrated with IT/O for paging of IT staff and voice messages to non IT staff and also Setup and configured SLS for all VMS system backup and tape management. Mr. Gladstone developed justification and project plan to upgrade old technology disks and tapes to new storageworks disks and tapes and moved 32GB data from old disks to new disks during off hours with minimal downtime. He developed a project plan and a validation plan to move VAXIVMS cluster from off-site data center to an on-sited data center over a weekend. Also, he provided end user support on all aspects of computing including HELP desk and act as general FIREFIGHTER.

Mr. Gladstone provided full system management for a VAX cluster, seven distributed VAX's serving Pathworks and Alpha based Windows NT servers. This included the successful setup and configuration of a mail cluster running ALL-IN-I IOS, MR, PMDF, etc., supporting 2500+ clients running Teamlinks. He provided daily support for the mail cluster including support to the client community and setup and configured 3 Alpha NT servers. Mr. Gladstone developed standards for Windows NT servers and worked on developing a corporate master domain model.

Systems Engineering Mr. Gladstone provided system management for several VAX clusters and distributed systems, installed and configured new VAX systems. He was responsible for full system management, which included monthly system downtime, setup and support VCS console system, setup and configure Pathworks V5 on a VMS/AXP server, investigation of new technologies, recommending/ordering new printers (LPS), personal computers, and VAX servers, administering SEAL firewall connection to INTERNET, monitoring INTERNET news, developing and moderated DecNotes conferences, DECUServe NOTES, and CompuServe Forums. He installed and developed a model for installation of Pathworks LAN's including personal computer configurations and client software. Additionally, he developed standards for installing personal computer software and provided backup technical support for SAS, WordPerfect. He answered general questions on use of the VAX, personal computers and PATHWORKS local area networks.
