Dr. Goldstein works collaboratively with the M&A team, providing recommendations on market expansion, identifying veterinary hospitals to join the Lakefield Family, visiting hospitals and building relationships with the selling doctors, collecting the necessary financial and non-financial information, building models to valuate and present options to the selling doctors that best suit their needs, and maintaining the legacy and culture the owner(s) have built over the years.

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Goldstein leads all medical operations, medical leadership, DVM recruiting, continuing education programs, professional relations and quality improvement initiatives. He works directly with senior leadership and field operations to develop, maintain and advance the quality and delivery of medical care throughout the organization. Currently, Dr. Goldstein works in veterinary business development (Mergers and Acquisitions) identifying quality veterinary hospitals to join the Lakefield family, while maintaining the hospitals legacy and culture.

Duties, roles and responsibilities include teaching both in the classroom and in the clinics, providing clinical service for specialty work in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery, community continuing education programs, national and international speaker and published author as well as research activities.

As Associate Medical Director of the Veterinary Medical Center My duties included: front line supervision of clinical staff in the provision of veterinary care in the VMC consistent with the mission of the college and university, initiated and directed new projects or changes to improve efficiencies and delivery of care, coordinated clinical activities with other clinical services within the VMC to improve quality of care provided, ensured clinician compliance with clinical practice/service area standards, supervised clinical staff, ensuring compliance with collegiate and university human resources policies; participates in the recruitment, training and evaluation of clinical staff, participated in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long-range planning, assessed and implemented training and development needs of clinical staff in relation to programmatic needs, assisted in resolving conflicts related to patient care and hospital operations (including client and rDVM concerns), reviewed, recommended, and implemented policies of standards of care and procedural protocols, participated in planning for educational programs for clinicians, faculty and house staff, reviewed veterinary care performance by clinicians to identify opportunities for improvement, develop action plans, implement follow through and accountability, addressed quality and service issues raised by department chair, clinicians, technicians, clients, support staff, CVM administration, and regulatory bodies, assisted in the management of financial resources; ensures appropriate allocation of VMC resources through monitoring use of supplies, charges, fees, and review of budgets, played a key role in strategic planning for the VMC as well as assisting with annual financial budgeting for respective areas of responsibility.
