This included OS/390 base, conversion from CA-TSS to RACF, CA-1 to DFSMSrmm, CA-7/CA-11 to Tivoli, and hospital-wide implementation of Unix System Services for internal websites, HBOC hospital system and consolidation of multiple Windows/Intel based servers back to the OS/390 platform.• I was able to successfully control expenditures and reduce the operating budget by completing developing a comprehensive vision/plan for the department. Two examples of this implementation was the replacement of non-cost competitive systems (hardware and software) with newer, better solutions and the consolidation of an additional hospital’s MIS department into our infrastructure.• Developed and implemented a comprehensive set of metrics and service-level agreements with the user community to ensure 24 x 7 system availability. -

During my tenure, developed and implemented a major release of the VSE version of the product and worked with the development team on the development and introduction of Connect:Direct OS/390.• Installed and maintained VM/ESA operating system. After the initial system installation I installed and implemented all of Sterling Software’s VM suite of software products (e.g. VM:Direct, VM:Secure, VM:Tape, etc) and implemented VM/VTAM and VM TCP networking for VM and VSE guests. Also, installed and implemented VSE/ESA releases 3.2, 3.3, 3.4. Installed and implemented Computer Associates VSE products, CA-EPIC, CA-DYNAM, CA-FAQS, CA-FLEE/XP, etc.• Also, worked with development and support group on the unit/system testing and quality assurance testing of the CONNECT:Direct for VSE, VM and OS/390. This involved extensive Y2K interface testing, testing of the OEM system interfaces and development/augmentation of the product documentation, all in assembler. -

This included all areas of system management including developing and implementing system-wide (e.g.: MVS, JES2, RACF, etc) system modifications and exits, all written in System/390 assembler language. • System conversion duties included the following projects: planning, designing and implementing operation system conversion from MVS/XA to MVS/ESA Version 4.3 along with all associate IBM and OEM program products (e.g.: RACF, DFSMS, CA-1/7/11, Wylbur, etc.) • Online conversion responsibilities included the conversion of all CICS regions from a heavily modified CICS/OS/VS 1.7 system to an IBM/TTU standard assembler CICS/MVS 2.1.2 system and later to CICS/ESA Version 4.1. Other online duties included the installation of upgrade to the DB2 data base management system.• Development duties included writing assembler-based VTAM application programs for use with in-house designed VTAM front-end system. Interfaced all MVS subsystems to RACF security and total rewrite of all TTU CICS System Programming routines to IBM standard Command-Level/Macro Level (where required) assembler programs. Other development included the writing and maintenance of ACF/VTAM table (USSTAB, Log Mode tables, etc), NCP/VS and interfaces into VM/ESA. -
Data Center ManagerFurr'S Inc. 1989 - 1992• Hands-on manager with Overall responsibilities included the managing of a large corporate VM/XA SP, MVS/XA, and VSE/SP data center. Technical responsibilities included planning, installation, and implementation of operating system releases and new hardware. Upgraded system from multiple 4381 processors running MVS/SP to a single-image IBM 3090-600 running VM/XA and MVS/XA. Upgraded all of the real-time POS CICS regions from CICS/VS 1.7 to CICS/MVS 2.1.2. • Developed and implemented system-wide MIS naming standards and wrote many assembler system exits (JES2, SMF, CA-1, CA-Librarian, RACF, etc.) to enforce system standards. Development of assembler VTAM and CICS system to process the Point-of-Sale hardware updates and POS environmental changes. This required low-level code on MVS and 4690 POS systems.
