CEO ► Leads Cross-Functional Teams | High Adaptability | Unlocks Value | Links Strategies | Leverages Data|I am an experienced Chief Executive Officer with a proven track record of success in building and scaling eCommerce and omnichannel businesses, entrepreneurship, driving growth, and building ecosystems across Sub-Saharan African and other territories. I am passionate about achieving success through empowering teams, collaboration, leveraging data, and combining this with a culture that promotes customer empathy and contributes to a sustainable business.Throughout my career, I have successfully built and scaled up pioneering B2C and B2B2C eCommerce multicategory retail platforms into market leaders. I am particularly proud of my contributions to Kalahari.com (owned by Multinational, Naspers that merged with Takealot.com in 2015) and Loot.co.za. By focusing on customer/seller needs and leveraging data/technology to create seamless user experiences, we were able to drive rapid growth and establish these platforms as market leaders. I pride myself on frequently demonstrating high adaptability, quickly adjusting to new environments and challenges, and effectively leveraging my skills and experience to achieve success in any given situation.I believe that success is a team effort and that building strong relationships with key stakeholders is essential to achieving sustainable growth. I lead by example and create a culture that fosters innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Through having a global mindset and extensive international experience/exposure, I have gained insights into many cultures, market structures and businesses across the world. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with startups and multinationals across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.As an eCommerce leader with a wealth of experience in the industry, I understand that there are many levers at play in any successful eCommerce venture. I combine the art and science of connecting the dots to understand the short- and long-term implications for any given decision on areas like customer/seller experience, GMV, cash flows, margins, key metrics, unit economics, marketing spend, and logistics/last-mile delivery. I regularly attend and participate in events like Summer Davos (WEF) Annual New Champion meetings in China, London AI Week, and Washington D.C. Africa Fintech Summit. This allows me to be exposed to new developments in AI, data science, and other disciplines, gain valuable insights, and new learnings and challenge my thinking.
