For the past 7 years, I've led the Database Administration team, responsible for managing a team of five DBAs in New York and two DBAs in Prague, responsible for the oversight of the region's SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase database instances. Designing the HA/DR strategy with other Infrastructure leads, ensuring RPO/RTO times are met, assuring all database instances are in compliance with company build standards and best practices, establishing regular maintenance procedures, practicing lifecycle and patch management, identifying and resolving performance issues in support of our global customers, and dealing with internal auditors and external regulators; these were all areas that have been within my remit.Prior to the DBA role, I was responsible for managing the Trading Floor Application Support team. In this position, I was the primary point of contact for all NY Fixed Income, Equity Trading, and Treasury traders with respect to any trading system issue. This would include troubleshooting data flows from front office to back office, End-of-Day P/(L) calculation discrepancies, counterparty and instrument static data verification, and responding to performance issues.I originally started with Dresdner Kleinwort (merged with Commerzbank in 2008) as a SQL Server database developer, part of a team that built a Finance sub-ledger that brought in front and back office trade detail information from numerous systems. From the initial ETL processing, to the data enrichment via stored procedure business logic, to the final posting of journals in the general-ledger, we built a system that could process millions of rows of data in mere hours, reducing the time it took Finance to do month-end close from over two weeks to just three days thanks in large part to the quality and accuracy of our sub-ledger data that enabled the elimination of scores of manual processes.

Provided 24x7 support for existing Siebel 6 and 7 production environments. This included architecting backup and disaster recovery strategies, performance tuning and availability, off-hours maintenance as well as log-shipping, and data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) into other Horizon systems.Designed and configured database systems for the multi-million dollar upgrade of Siebel 6 to Siebel 7. This entailed hardware specification and configuration, capacity planning, disaster recovery, stress testing, performance monitoring and data movement between disparate environments.

Sole database developer for the acquisition and transition period during which Micro Warehouse’s assets were integrated into CDW’s systems.Spearheaded or provided assistance for all SQL Server database development throughout the enterprise to include business analysis, data flow, high availability and database architecture.During the rewrite of the e-commerce site, was the lone database resource responsible for all aspects of interfacing with the database (data modeling/logical and physical design/coding/performance tuning). Also was the driver for a complete inventory of the database objects and consolidation and optimization of over 1000 stored procedures.Lead Data warehouse and operational database development effort for the company. This included interfacing and extracting data from a legacy AS400/HP system (MACS) through the use of DTS and T-SQL for use in a real-time reporting mechanism.Acted as the Database Administrator responsible for multiple servers’ maintenance, performance and availability in a highly volatile development environment. Set up replication, log-shipping, created views/triggers/DTS packages.

Functioned in a variety of client roles as an Application Developer specializing in database development and administration but including web development as well. Provided extensive knowledge of Data Modeling and Database Design, ANSI & Transact-SQL, DTS, Performance Tuning and Optimization (machine and code level), Replication, and Administration for clients. Experience with designing and developing stored procedures, triggers, views, functions and data extraction scripts. Specific accomplishments include:Developed a custom framework for Internet Analytics based on click-stream analysis and data warehousing methods for Kenneth Cole using SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services and Site Server Commerce Edition.Developed a reporting mechanism for L’Oreal to track sales team acceptance of the new Sales intranet site. Created daily-customized reports for the customer, tracking individual team members' use of the site and also which features of the site were of most assistance. This required extracting data through DTS from web log files into a database and reporting trends found in the data.Developed a web and client-based Rapid Economic Justification (REJ) application for Microsoft.Architected and developed numerous web-based workflow applications as well as modifications to an e-commerce site for Panasonic. This included developing a demographic response tracking application that received data from a 3rd party, extracted it for use in SQL Server, and developed queries for reporting trends in the data.
