Thomas Edison once said, "I never did a day's work in my life. It was all fun." For the past 28 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to do what I am truly passionate about. Beginning in 1989 at Smith Barney, I quickly learned the ropes of the retirement planning industry. From there I was given the opportunity to join Oppenheimer & Company in 1991 and focus my business towards retirement programs for major corporations around the country, while also managing fixed income and equity portfolios for individual investors. As my career continued, I joined RBC Dain Rauscher and formed Handler Investment Consulting, a move that better permitted me to facilitate the needs of corporate plan fiduciaries that have a direct responsibility for their company’s retirement programs. I brought the Handler Investment Consulting team to UBS Financial Services, Inc. and was named to the UBS Institutional Group. The move to UBS gave me the ability to acknowledge fiduciary status for investment advice provided to retirement plans by utilizing a UBS Institutional Consulting Agreement.My commitment to my clients has not gone unnoticed by professionals within the business as I have received multiple acclamations. From 2005-2014, I received PLANSPONSOR magazine’s “Best in Class” award as one of the nations “Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisors”*working with plan sponsors. My infatuation with the business has created a thirst for knowledge, driving me to continue to educate myself to better serve my clients. have earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF)™ professional designation, the PLANSPONSOR Retirement Professional (PRP)™ designation, the Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P)™ designation, and the Certified Behavioral Finance Analyst (CBFA) professional designation. *For award criteria, please see the "Honors and Awards" section below.
