I work in the mining and quarrying space.I have a part-role as a Facility Manager at Brisbane Airport. I am working for ARAN adding to my mining experience of working underground for 6 years wirh Mount Isa Mines. Working for Mt Isa Mines I had the opportunity to work at X41, R62, Gorge Fisher, Ernest Hennery mines and have driven through Black Star and around the lease numerous times in the role as a drill fitter with the Raise Boring and Diamond Drilling department. As a tradesman, I was interested in the mechanics of the processes on the lease. I have developed a great understanding of the mining, processing and smelting operations at Mount Isa Mines. My second role was a serviceman although in this role I have been assigned to the charging crew for 6 months and now have the statutory authorization required to work with and transport explosives. I was working towards a career in safety and training by studying. I have been undertaking a Bachelor Degree in business with a major in HR and an OHSE Speciality. I have completed a Diploma in OH&S and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus twelve subjects towards a Business Degree. I have enjoyed being a member of the MICO HSEC committee and an Equal Opportunity Officer working for Glencore.On a personal level, I own a yacht, I am heavily involved with the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club at Cabbage Tree Creek Shorncliffe. I am a director of the club currently and race regularly. Before moving to Mount Isa was the Principle of the then QCYC sailing academy.
