About Gary Hellman

Gary Hellman brings over 44 years of ministry experience to Faculty Commons, the faculty ministry of Cru. After Gary earned a Masters of Divinity at Talbot Seminary in LaMirada, California in 1986, his family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. At that time he helped start the faculty ministry at Oklahoma State University. Over the 25 years the group has grown to involve over 200 professors and staff. In 1993 Gary and his wife, Gena, assumed the position of Regional Representatives for the campuses in Arkansas and Oklahoma. As a team they have a passion for helping connect professors, professional staff, and students to Jesus Christ. They have three sons who reside in Austin, Portland, and Tulsa.

    Worked with college students at Fullerton. Spent time caring for their needs and helping them wrestle with the big questions of life. Helped them look to the bible and study it together. Leadership was given to students to help determine and carryout the vision of the entire ministry. After the first year I directed the ministry with team 6-8 staff. Helping them be success in working with students and oversee aspects of our vision. Saw tremendous growth in numbers and student and staff ownership. The last 3 years while working on an advanced degree I worked closely with Biola University students. We went to 3-4 smaller colleges and met with students and shared the message of God's love and forgiveness.
