One problem that besets brain injured children is that they are often able to return to close to their previous abilities but struggle to progress further within school. Because of the perceived good initial recovery it can be difficult for the children to access additional support at school and can be upsetting as they struggle to keep pace with their peers.When young adults are injured this can present different challenges. When an injury occurs in early adulthood it can cause difficulties on an already challenging time. Deprived of the structure of school, the choices and challenges facing someone entering the workplace for the first time, or living on their own cannot be underestimated and the process of moving into adult life needs to be carefully planned and supported.
