Training & Education:Gary Hershey is a Certified ADD/ADHD Coach. He receivedhis B.A. in Kinesiology and B.S. in Speech & Hearing Sciences. He has also completed 124 hours toward his Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology. Gary earned his certification through the American Coaching Association and received training from the Schools Attuned to All Kinds of Minds Program. In 2003, he was chosen by the founder of Dartmoor School to help develop, promote and manage the ADD/ADHD Life Skills Coaching program for all of the institution’s campuses.Approach & SpecialtyAs a Certified ADD/ADHD Coach, I have more than 15 years of experience helping others learn to develop and implement effective tools for overcoming their challenges, such as: timemanagement, personal organization, problem solving and decision making, just to name a few. I have worked successfully with children ages 12+ as well as adults of all ages. As a Coach, I have met countless individuals who didn’t understand why they were underachieving or simply believed that something was wrong with them, and far too many thatwere ready to give up hope altogether. They were burdened and handicapped by those beliefs in school as well as in their daily lives. Many of them tried their best to make improvements on their own, but the situation felt beyond their control. When these individuals become my students, I form an ongoing partnership with them during which they become empowered through self-awareness. Throughout this process I provide them with the skills necessary to (1) understand that ADD/ADHD is the origin of their challenges, (2) use their existing strengths to overcome these challenges, and (3) become their own advocate by understanding and exercising their rights and responsibilities. As my students, these individuals discover that they actually can regain control of their lives. Oftentimes it only requires a few personalized strategies along with the knowledge to use them successfully.
