Additional to my day job in the Nuclear Industry, I worked as a Volunteer committee member for Lancashire CIPD Branch, completing most of the branch roles including Policy Advisor, Events & programme orgniser and Branch Chair, for over 26 years, I left the Nuclear industry after 32 years in 2010 and joined the CIPD as staff in 2011 in the role of NW Regional Branch Coordinator, supporting the volunteer committees and members across Cumbria, Lancashire, Manchester, Merseyside& N Cheshire (inc the Ilse of Man) and Mid & North Wales, which covers over 8% of the CIPD membership. I was instrumental with Lynn Clarke and Peter Lumley in re starting the annual CIPD Northern Area Partnership (NAP) conference in 2010 and have been one of the organiser since. It now runs in York during June each year.I work from home in Cheshire, when not working on CIPD activities I am a volunteer Gliding Instructor with 631 VGS based at RAF Woodvale, having flown solo at 16 when 631 was at RAF Sealand and stayed with since 1976.
