I was involved the launch of the BBC's HD channel in 2006, editing the first HD footage seen on the channel and helping to set their technical standards, I have a good working relationship with the channel regularly editing BBC HD's preview programmes, offering technical advice and workflow solutions.During my time in the post I helped install linear and non-linear HD edit suites, HD technical review facilities and 5.1 audio dubbing facilities at Television Centre for BBC Studios and Post Production.In 2008 I trained BBC sport editors in HD basics, P2 tapeless and Avid/EVS collaborative workflow for the World Cup and Beijing Olympics. My training commitments to the department where on-going, I trained many editors and assistants and produced training documentation during my term as Senior HD Editor.Whilst as an on-line editor I finished programmes such as Criminal Justice, Margot, That Mitchell & Webb Look, Dinosapien, Strictly Come Dancing and The Queen's Speech. I relished the challenge of working on the world feed of Live Earth providing over 36 hours of on-air programming: Al Gore even popped into the edit suite.

During my time spent as editor I was able to hone my craft skills, the techniques needed for quick turnaround editing and off-line/on-line editing workflows. I was required to operate linear or non-linear editing environments and perform my own sound editing and mixing. I spent many happy years editing Top of the Pops during this time.

I was required to line-up linear edit suites, perform front line maintenance and assist on-line editors. As the technology changed I was required to digitise rushes into non-linear editing programmes and perform tape conforms.Towards the end of my term I spent a lot of time on an attachment as an editor.

I was required to perform tape duplication, standards conversions, audio dubbing, and technical reviews, play in VT inserts into live studios and man the transmission suites for BBC1, BBC2.

I joined the BBC on it's own 18 month technical training scheme consisting of 3 months training at its dedicated training centre - Wood Norton, followed by 12 months of on the job training during which time I completed attachments to film editing, sound dubbing, and grading. This training was completed by a final course and assessment once again at Wood Norton at which point I became a recording operator with duties such as studio recordings, tape duplication and studio inserts.
