Managing the operational aspects of a 9,000 tons/day landfill where waste stream is almost exclusively derived of intermodal rail containers. Management overwatch includes the landfill with a five tipper operation, intermodal rail yard that processess over 300 containers per day, and a trucking department comprised by 15 internal and 24 third-party drivers.

While operating in the capacity of Landfill Operations Manager, I oversaw routine operations of 4,000 ton/day Municipal Solid Waste Type 1 landfill including safety, HR, and construction aspects. I have been effectively administering inclusive facets of fleet management involving 15 landfill heavy equipment units and ancillary equipment. Supervised four direct reports, including two Lead Heavy Equipment Operators, one Operations Supervisor, and admin staff.My notable career highlights include:• Retrained and coached entire staff on basic landfilling practices.• Restructured compensation package for all employees to comply with modern industry compensation standards.• Conducted safety training to reestablish and empower true safety culture.• Increased density since 2022, from 1,356 pounds/cubic yard to 1,530 pounds/cubic yard, in the most recent flyover.• Revamped and enhanced operational efficacy by leading and developing highly productive teams and teaching compaction basics to 26 full-time employees.

The role of Landfill Manager involved responsibilities like reporting to Assistant Deputy Director of Solid Waste as well as supervising three Municipal Solid Waste landfills operations, including safety, compliance, community relations, human resource, design, construction, landfill gas management, and closure and post-closure care. I oversaw fleet management of 26 landfill heavy equipment units, three landfill truck tippers, and ancillary equipment. My managerial duties included managing four direct reports (two Lead Heavy Equipment Operators, Scalehouse Coordinator, and Operations Assistant). Moreover, I dealt with indirect reports involving permanent contractors numbered 70+.Key contributions in this role were:• Formulated, incorporated, and executed disposal strategies aimed at empowering and boosting solid waste compaction efforts, ultimately achieving 30% increase in compaction density and saving valuable permitted-disposal room.• Administered multiple vendor contracts as well as inter-local agreements with member cities, including agreement for management of large-scale compost facility for five-Solid Waste Member Cities.
