This involved;• Documentation – carrying out risk assessments, producing method statements and monitoring processes for key activities. Writing safety policies/procedures for a broad range of activities including vehicle movement safety, accident investigation, safe stock storage, merchandising, contractors.• Communication - implemented an incident response tool to alert and require action to prevent re-occurrences. Wrote a monthly safely newsletter, and other safety communications advising on key changes or activities, e.g. safety during key trading periods, trading and operational packs. • Training – Developed and implemented training programmes including health and safety elearning, Store and Regional Management, manual handling and role specific training. Managed external training providers • Accidents/incidents – led major incidents investigations (including fatal accident investigations), working with stakeholders to implement short, medium and long term remedial actions. • Merchandising / display safety – responsible for the review and sign off of merchandising displays which involved working with merchandisers , buyers and vendors. Lead officer for Food Hygiene and Health and Safety. As Lead officer I managed small teams of enforcement officers allocating work, ensuring inspections targets were being met and supporting team members when issues arose with premises. Responsibilities also included;• Carried out food hygiene and safety inspections of a range of high risk and approved premises• Delivered an 18 month training programme on food safety management systems and the Food Standards Agencies Safer Food Better Business tool.• Acted as the lead safety officer for several large outdoor events held in the district and sat on the Councils Safety Advisor Group working with other regulatory agencies to ensure a cohesive enforcement approach.• Reviewing new legislation and codes of practice and providing training and guidance to the team, and producing/adjusting documentation to reflect changes• Responding to emergencies, e.g. serious accidents, food alerts.
