Coordinate with production to minimize disruption during instrumentation installations and encourage a working together environment. Responsible for two process centers; B-XS40 Electronic fabrication, Installations, Functions and Flight Control testing within the Integrated Aircraft Systems Laboratories (IASL) and B-XRC1 Flight Test Manufacturing Operation; Post Delivery, Renton Follow On Aircraft Testing and IDS programs. Main activities within B-XS40 evolve around supporting our engineering customers in 10 separate test laboratories. My team is responsible to support with required headcount and working to engineering test schedules and agreed upon budgets. Flight Test major program support includes developing and executing support plans for certification flight test activities on 737 short field, 737 900ER, 737 Wedge tail and AWACS (IDS Aircraft), Navy C-40, 747, 747-8, 757, 767, 767 Tanker, and 777 aircraft. Additional responsibilities for both process centers include daily safety preparation, planning, maintenance for lab test operations and modification of airplanes in BCA / IDS Developmental and Certification Test programs. Develop and establish policies, budgets, organizational structures, and performance targets as commitments to our customers. Additional duties include D&FTMO Lean Project Leader tasked with base lining current level of knowledge, defining and distributing required training and ensuring lean initiatives are employed through continuous improvement processes, employee safety and morale.
Senior Manager, 717 Final Assembly, Functions, Interior Installations And Paint Operations
Complete Responsibility, Accountability and Authority (RAA) for all Aircraft Functions, Interior Installations and Paint Operation for the 717 moving line. Supervise direct (UAW-148) and indirect employees in production build processes. Responsible for unit cost, flow time, aircraft schedules, safety, process improvements and Lean manufacturing for up to three aircraft in flow. Other duties include coordination with customers through their acceptance cycles to insure customer satisfaction and on-time aircraft delivery to the delivery center. Chairperson for IPT level 1 corrective action board to correct repetitive issues. Lead process improvement activities (14 AIW’s completed, 2004) with all associated support groups, customer quality support (CQS), engineering, planning, production control, supplier management, quality assurance, tooling and three additional IPT production build departments. Also participated in 3P event for 777 aircraft, interior installations in prep for moving line.
Senior Manager, Commercial Delivery Center Operations
Complete RAA for first shift delivery center operations. Supervised up to nine first line managers, three staff personnel and up to eight-six hourly (UAW-148) touch labor personnel in flight line production processes. Responsible for unit cost, flow time, aircraft build and flight schedules for up to fourteen aircraft in flow. Other duties include coordination with customers through their acceptance cycles to insure customer satisfaction. Chairperson for department corrective action board to correct hi-impact lost time discrepancies and to reduce repetitiveness. Coordinate process improvement activities with all associated product support groups. Additional responsibilities include Enterprise Change leader for the department. Duties include development and implementation of Lean processes utilizing my several years of Lean experience & training. Total focus on cycle time, cost and span reduction initiatives as well as total elimination of non-value added procedures. Processes used for this effort include Policy Deployment, 9-Tactics, Lean Manufacturing Assessment, 5”S” tool (Increased score from 2.5 to 3.9 overall), Accelerated Improvement Workshops (34 AIW’s Completed, 2003), Sig Sigma (Basic Knowledge), Production Preparation Process (3P), Value-Stream Mapping (Completed at Program and IPT Level), Developing Standard work and enhanced Point Of Use in each production area. Also assigned as Senior Manager over Flight line operations on (7) 737NG aircraft during Refurbish for Delivery program in Long Beach.
Group Leader / Section Manager, Commercial Delivery Center (Md-80, Md-90, Kc-10A, Dc-10, Md-11)
Responsible for all aircraft activities associated with flight line operations. Supervise ten to twenty hourly personnel in all levels of aircraft maintenance from the time the aircraft arrives to the delivery center through delivery of aircraft to the customer. Coordinate and perform first time fuel functions, auxiliary power unit operation, engine trim and compass swing. Organize and complete preflight and postflight inspections for all company and customer flights and maintain all aircraft records. On KC-10A aircraft, worked closely with MDC contractor (COMBS Facility) concerning technical issues with aircraft systems, warranty support, schedules, personnel training, ground support equipment, MDC parts inventory supplies as well as interfacing with major LRU component suppliers (General Electric Engines, Honeywell Avionics ect..) In addition to my crew chief duties, I accepted several KC-10A aircraft from McDonnell Douglas for the U. S. Air Force while stationed at March AFB, Riverside, California.
