Mr. Gary Katz is a principal cyber and software chief architect specializing in designing and implementing new technologies, capabilities and processes to drive a cyber organization forward. Mr. Katz’s combines a deep background in software development with a strong knowledge of cyber intelligence analysis, digital forensics, and malware analysis.Mr. Katz brings over 15 years of experience supporting the USG, with over 9 years focused on cyber security. Mr. Katz has designed and implemented full cyber security technology portfolios. He has provided customers technology roadmaps, business plan analysis, and other similar artifacts. He has built and led highly capable development teams. He works across the spectrum of cyber users, tool creators and business leaders to raise an organization’s capabilities.For strategic new business capture, Mr. Katz supported and won multiple 100-500M proposal efforts as a technical writer, presenter, key personnel, and led the development of the technology solution offerings. Mr. Katz creates approximately 10 small proposals a year (500K-2M) for government R&D efforts with a 40-50% win rate. Mr. Katz previously supported FireEye's Managed Defense engineering team architecting the infrastructure for their internal SOC chartered with responding to alerts from hundreds of customers and responding to threats within their infrastructure. This includes updating their systems to use newer data engineering technologies and supporting their migration from data center infrastructure to rearchitecting to a cloud-centric approach using AWS technologies.Prior to that, Mr. Katz was the chief engineer for DoD cyber programs for Lockheed Martin. For 7 years, Mr. Katz was the contractor chief architect for one of the federal cyber centers, the DoD Cyber Crime Center (DC3). Mr. Katz led the contractor software development efforts and worked closely with the organization’s mission spaces to improve their capabilities. Mr. Katz supported the creation of STIX and TAXII standards for sharing machine-readable cyber threat information. Mr Katz directly supported the creation of core objects within the framework. He championed and worked with the community to update underlying model of the standard to properly represent threat intelligence.Mr. Katz has worked for multiple R&D organizations, including Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Office, and their Advanced Technology Labs. He lectured for the University of Pennsylvania, developing and teaching their course in parallel processing using CUDA and GPU programming.
