Recently, I represented Boral Resources for 2.5 years on retainer with a focus on Business and Market Development for their Celceram products in the plastics, rubber and coatings markets.

I’ve been responsible for specialty chemical additive sales in my territory, which includes TX, OK, LA, MO, AR, TN, CA, AZ, NM, FL, GA, AL & MS. My main focus was on developing performance solutions for the thermoset plastic, thermoplastics, CASE and construction markets. As a solutions provider, I work with customers and prospective customers in problem solving and product consulting, formulation development, lab trials and plant trials to promote and prove out the use of BYK’s additives for value-added performance. I concentrate on building multiple-level relationships within my customers’ organizations. I coordinate with BYK’s sales agent/distribution network and work with them in product training, consultations, providing sales tools to help enable them and work with them to engage in BYK’s performance additive solutions in the market. I’ve also championed the exploration and development of strategic partnerships with key co-suppliers and I always proactively identify and develop new market opportunities.

In mid-1996, I moved over to sales and was initially responsible for all performance mineral sales, first in the Great Lakes territory, which included OH, MI and WV with my focus being on sales in the thermoset plastics, thermoplastics and rubber markets. In 1998, I also acquired responsibility for some large national accounts in the thermoplastic and PVC markets. Then in mid-1999, I was promoted to the Regional Sales Manager position for the Southwest and West territories, which included 16 states and three provinces and I relocated to the Houston, TX area. I was responsible for growing the business in the thermoset plastics and thermoplastics markets. I also managed the distribution network within my territories. Most of the same methods and techniques as stated above were also utilized in these positions. During the first four years at HEM, I was the Transportation Manager for the Calcium Carbonate division of J.M. Huber Corporation located in Quincy, IL. In this position, I worked very closely with the Marketing and Sales departments in developing creative logistical opportunities to help gain new business and/or enable more competitiveness in the marketplace.

I was responsible for all aspects involved in the marketing, pricing and sale of rail transportation of metals, minerals and machinery. This included negotiating prices and contracts with shippers, market research and analysis, and assisting shippers in solving their shipping problems. To develop new business, I initiated and coordinated advertising campaigns. I conducted all face-to-face sales calls to shippers and designed logistical packages to fit the shippers’ needs. I performed projection analysis for planning and budgeting purposes.
