As a Well Intervention Engineer based in the client office, the main objectives of the role is to plan all aspects of various types of well interventions, Engineer a solution and follow it through to completion. This involves communicating between the senior well Engineers, project leaders and 3rd party vendors onshore and the offshore workforce if required. During the operational phase of any planned work the Well Intervention Engineer is the focal point for the offshore operations supervisors. Some additional requirements of this job include; Up front planning & budgeting for the operations. Dealing with contractual issues. Sourcing equipment and personnel suitable for planned operations. Preparing detailed programs of work ensuring all work is carried out within the client Technical Standards and with safety at the forefront. Communicating with official government departments for all necessary approvals. Planning and execution of yard trials. Good understandings of the different disciplines involved in well operations. Dealing with the day-today issues arising from well interventions. Good time management. Meeting deadlines whilst maintaining accurate records and supporting documentation in a technically challenging environment where regular changes are a common occurrence. Establish good working relationships with other teams within the group and ensure all lessons learnt are shared.

Joined EGIS (EXPRO WSS) and was attached to the Brent Well Services group who are responsible for the management and supervision in all aspects of well intervention and maintenance services for Shell Expro. I was based offshore on Brent Charlie mostly working as the night Well Service Supervisor. This involved the supervision of teams of well services specialists involved in well intervention / maintenance activities. The type of operations supervised are listed below: Wireline (Slick line & Electric line) Work-over Coiled Tubing / Pumping operations Wellhead maintenanceAlso provided adhoc cover as onshore ‘Support Engineer’ for the Brent platforms as and when required. During this time I completed my level 3 Competency and was awarded the Certification from the SQA

As a trainee I worked as the third member in a team of three reporting to the lead operator who in turn reported to the Logging Engineer. The operations carried out included both Open Hole and Cased Hole interventions on Electric line and also the use of both explosives and radio-active materials. After circa 1 year I was promoted to the position of permanent lead operator where I furthered my knowledge in all aspects of well intervention.
