I accepted a position with Tata Consultancy Services as Senior Developer, contracted through Walmart. My duties include designing, develop and implement a VB.Net website back-ended by Sqlserver. This website also must interface with an existing third-party product through a webservice as well as send daily summary notifications to a specific group of users. The security of the application is integrated NT security with permissions specific to an ActiveDirectory Security group and the status of the particular request. My duties and responsibilities include being the onsite liaison to my offshore team, managing a team of remote developers, communicating to all members of management for both corporations as well as interfacing with the end-users for ongoing support and new development.

Originally Golden Living was named Beverly Enterprises. When I was hired the I.T. department consisted of nearly 600 local and remote personnel, 15 of which were in my team of open systems development. Within the first three years the I.T. department was downsized to less than 200 individuals. Our team participated in each round of cutbacks, each time sacrificing 1-5 individuals until it was completely outsourced. I was the only member of our original team that was retained. During the time when our development was performed in-house, I supervised a team of 10 developers and was responsible for the creation and implementation of software standards. When I first arrived at Beverly, the database back-end was Oracle and the development environment was primarily VB6. The website development was limited, but what had been done was in ColdFusion. There were no formal standards for developers. The first task I took on was the creation of these standards. Since the team was rapidly becoming out of touch with current technologies, and having difficulty meeting customer expectations and timelines, I moved the team into the .Net environment with a SqlServer back-end and created standards for the enterprise centered around our core toolsets of VB.net, SqlServer, Oracle, Visio, Word, and Visual Studio. This involved obtaining management buy-in, learning and developing in the new environment, and then training the existing developers. Architected, managed, coded and deployed enterprise-level intranet site for the monitoring and reporting of denied Medicaid payments in classic ASP and Oracle. Redesigned training and tracking corporate intranet site to provide proof of federal training requirements in-house and to auditing utilizing ASP, VB6 and Oracle. Responsible for enterprise-wide network security redesign and implementation to facilitate Peoplesoft deployment and centralize and automate enterprise security utilizing ASP.Net, VB.Net and SqlServer.
