Gary Kipp retired after his 15th year as the Executive Director of the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP). In this role he contributed to the creation of the Washington State Leadership Academy, a public/private partnership supporting the professional development of principals and superintendents in the state, and the AWSP Leadership Framework, which is used across the state to help principals grow. Prior to his work with AWSP, Gary served 2 years as an assistant superintendent in the Evergreen School District, 20 years as a high school principal and 5 years as a middle school assistant principal in the Longview School District. He has served as adjunct faculty for Seattle Pacific University, the University of Portland and Pacific Lutheran University. Gary has been appointed to various state boards, as well as the National Merit Scholarship Advisory Board. In 2012, Gary was awarded the State Advocate for Education Award by Washington State University.
