As drafting supervisor I was responsible for processing all crews' field data and making sure the scope of work was met completely. I prepared the field data for drafting and assigned each project to a drafter. Throughout the drafting process, if there were any questions they were directed to me. It was also my responsibility to ensure that any applicable drafting standards for each project were met whether it was DPW, DOTD, etc. Once drafting was complete, I would conduct a preliminary review and issue any corrections to the drafter before presenting the project for final review to the Supervising Professional.As project manager it was my responsibility to create a schedule for all projects, assure that projects began and ended according to that schedule, and to evaluate the profit versus loss on project completion. I often speak to clients about their specific needs on projects to make sure they are getting what they need and are happy with the deliverables. This helps to establish personal relationships with clients.With my knowledge from NSU Geomatics program, we were able to implement terrestrial laser scanning and aerial drone photogrammetry programs to better use our equipment. The combination of these responsibilities and opportunities has really allowed me to be involved with the survey process from start to finish.

Conducted boundary, topographic, FEMA Certificate, Construction Benchmark Certificate, and ALTA surveys with GPS and total stations. Some of the boundary and topographic surveys were on larger tracts of land so different approaches had to be used. Due to the nature and size of the projects worked on at BFM, proper planning was required before beginning a survey. Control traverses were run with total stations and traverse prisms for both boundary and topographic surveys. Adjustments to close the traverse were made either in the field by me, or by the supervisor in the office. I learned how to more effectively use the calculation features within my data collector in construction layout environments. I was able to read plans provided to us by contractor and using angles and distances calculate the points needed to layout the structure. I gained a deeper understanding of the data gathered in the field once I began processing and drafting the data in AutoCAD.

Conducted class C boundary, topographic, FEMA Certificate, Construction Benchmark Certificate, and ALTA surveys with GPS and total stations. As crew chief, it was my responsibility to take accurate field notes, assure that all measurements were taken properly and according to the scope of work. I calculated and set required property monuments in the field for lot surveys and ALTA surveys. I was required to learn the FEMA standards to assure I was gathering all the required information in the field to complete the certificate. I often used the automatic level for the elevations required for FEMA certificates and CBM certificates. I also got the opportunity here to learn how to conduct research at a courthouse when previous survey information is needed. This aided in developing my ability to read plans and recreate property boundaries.

Used GPS/RTK to establish horizontal and vertical control for the construction of rock jetties in coastal environments. Utilized Hypack software to conduct single beam hydrographic surveys in the Mississippi River and many bodies of water throughout southern Louisiana. I was responsible for processing the hydrographic data, creating a template for the proposed rock jetty within Hypack, and comparing the two to estimate rock quantities needed to meet the required elevations and slopes. These grades and elevations from the templates were then staked out in the field to aid in the jetties' construction.
