The ArtReach Foundation (ArtReach) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Atlanta, GA. When natural or military disaster strikes, leaving thousands of traumatized children in its wake, The ArtReach Foundation offers hope. Through a unique program using expressive arts and creative problem solving, those affected are offered the tools necessary to heal and live productive lives.PROJECT HAITI will work to assist teachers, parents, caregivers, and children through the use of therapeutic arts activities for the growth and development of children who have experienced the traumatic effects of natural disaster. By using DANCE, MUSIC, PAINTING, WRITING and DRAMA in culturally appropriate ways, metaphor allows for the traumatized imagination to approach the unapproachable, to address the unspeakable in image and story, and to shift one’s internal experience to allow for gradual illumination when the heart and mind are ready to process trauma, redefine it, and place it in a “safe place” of gone but not forgotten.PROJECT AMERICA (completed) addressed the “invisible wounds” of war – combat stress, Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) of our Wounded Warriors, and secondary effects on military families and providers.http://artreachfoundation.org/

Health/It Associate

I just completed an engagement with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) serving as a Secret Shopper looking to detect and prevent fraud and abuse during the Annual Enrollment Period for Medicare Part C managed care programs.I was recently tasked to Project HERO with the Denver Veterans Affairs (VA) Central Business Office for non-VA care where we are coordinating a change to the reimbursement methodology for when veterans receive care at a non-VA facility. In essence, this marks a key change related to how the VA pays for $4 billion of claims annually. These claims will now be priced at Medicare/CMS rates and our team is supporting efforts to make the change smooth thus saving significant money to the government. In my previous consulting engagement, I worked on the CDC's Vaccine Management Business Improvement Project through Booz Allen Hamilton - IT and strategy consultants to the federal government. In this role, I served CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases as the Booz Allen Training Lead from September 2008 - February 2011. Coordinated with the Organizational Change Management team to plan for, develop, deliver, and maintain end user training for an SAP ERP implementation (CRM, MM, FI/FM, ECC) to around 100 CDC staff, 600 state/local immunization program staff, and ultimately 80K health care providers ordering publicly-funded vaccines through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. The VFC program distributes close to $4 billion of free vaccines annually constituting almost half of the entire CDC annual budget.Previous Booz Allen projects involve working with various VA Medical Centers in California, large non-profit hospital systems, physician revenue cycle projects, and compliance efforts for CMS fraud, waste, and abuse services. I have 16 years experience as a business consultant and training SME for health care organizations specializing in physician reimbursement and revenue cycle management.
