DSIC is an important national capability that can help Defence. Address the challenges associated with Networked Battlespace particularly around the integration and interoperability between platforms such as the JSF (Joint Strike fighter), LHD (Landing Helicopter Dock), future subs (Submarines) and Command and Control on the ground. Joint Venture between UofA, UniSA, UNSW and soon QUT – these Universities are thought leaders in this space and all have a track record of delivering to defence. We are in the process of growing this internationally.We are located in the SECUF (Secure Common User Facility). This is a purpose built secure facility funded by the SA Government and is a significant investment.

Project Manager for the introduction of a new requirement to support operations in theatre for the Lynx Mark 9A. Responsible for the design and integration of the EO device to meet IOC.Researching and advising on all Commercially Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment that meet the KPIs stated within the Projects Business Case. Briefing up to and including 1 star level managing and briefing the required budget within the stated limit and defining the spend profile forecast. Providing support in the management of the modification process from initiation through to clearance within the dedicated timeline and budget. Delivering weekly verbal reports, monthly written reports and Structured reports within defined break structures.Within current Project Management availability, providing technical and logistical support and advice on other in use Electro Optical devices, including L3-WESCAM MX10 and 15 Turrets and integrated systems. Implementing and Managing the Logistical Support for the new system under charge, providing weekly and monthly reports to senior management.Chairing several meetings throughout to Project timeline, including the creating of the Project Documents, including User Requirement Document, System Requirements both which include a number of generated KPIs.Creating, managing and amending the Project Plan, defining current critical path utilising various Microsoft products. Maintaining the current configuration plans for all documentation.Maintaining an excellent working relationship with several sub-contractors and commodity Project Teams responsible for delivering individual units to meet the system requirements.Producing, delivering and maintaining the level of support as agreed within Customer/Supplier Agreements and (Joint Business Agreements) with Joint Helicopter Command, Internal Business Agreements with commodity Project Teams, whilst maintaining a proactive and flexible approach to support to the operations as required.

Acting in the role of Electronic Warfare Project Manager for the purchase and Through Life Management for the two Missile Defence systems employed in both Rotary and Fixed Winged Aircraft within the MOD, currently fitted to over 140 Aircraft. In addition providing PM on three other Missile Jammers already in-serviceNegotiating the needs of the customer when in discussions with future requirements. Recently instrumental in the development of complex and confidential future Missile Warning devices, ensuring UK MOD has the product needed, despite being in minority with regards to numbers purchased comparing that with the USA DoD.Producing, delivering and maintaining the level of support as agreed within Customer Supplier Agreements with Front Line Commands, Internal Business Agreements with individual Platform Project Teams and agreed UOR Business Cases. Taking the lead in the Project to introduce a 5 year UOR CLS contract between MoD and BAE Systems Inc, for the management and support of a new missile warning system recently procured, creating and maintaining Work Packages including Assumption List and Statement of Work whilst acting as the main point of contact for the MoD in liaison with Industry. Acting as the Subject Matter Expert, providing training and Technical Support to Platform PMs developing their knowledge of the system prior to its installation for R&D. Maintaining a close liaison with the USA DoD to enable the development, project plans, discuss future UK requirements in all aspects of software and its changes for future use on the Defensive Systems.Liase with various Project Teams to engage and negotiate project plans on the procurement of several modifications under the UOR procedures at once. Ensuring no confliction on these various projects, defining Critical paths for the availability and delivery of Hardware achieving completion on, or ahead of time and within budget.

2006 - 2008: Sea King Mark 4 and 6CR Service Modification Manager.Provide the Commando Helicopter Force with Engineering Support and technical advice on all Service Modification Engineering matters, including training requirements. At times Teaching the systems Technically to new users. Plan and manage the Sea King Mk 4 and 6CR fleet especially for Configuration Control, ensuring Airframes are made available for Multiple Modification Teams, as the teams become available, liasing between three different (two who were in competition with each, with many issues, so at times acted as mediator, and one containing foreign engineers) to ensure project timeframes were kept on time and overcoming issues.Acting as the Airframe Subject Mater Expert in the design of theatre modifications, ensuring Service Engineering Principles were adhered too, involving various companies from various countries.Proficient with most Microsoft packages, project planner etc - used for project planning and briefing, vetting and amending technical publications, word processing for the submission of technical and personnel reports.Providing on and off site technical advice to units operating the new systems prioritising the units deployed on Operations.Briefing Top level management on progress of Projects advising on Risk and issue registers and their reduction as the projects develop.Implement, manage, advise and control a Quality Assurance programme to ISO 9001, within Squadrons and HQ, including the issue of audits. Briefing and advising on LEAN implementation within the sections. Whilst in this position was nominated for and awarded several achievements, including the Joint Helicopter Command Personnel Commendation for 2007, for outstanding efforts towards the deployment of the Sea King Mark 4.
