Born and raised in California, I took a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside and a Master’s degree in Information Science from UC, Berkeley. Visiting friends in Minnesota in the winter of 1973, I decided to stay on to experience a real Spring for the first time in my life, then extended my stay for over 10 years working first as an operations analyst for two major library systems in Minneapolis and then as Head of Library Acquisitions for the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I came to NH in 1984 to take a management position at Yankee Book Peddler (YBP Library Services) in Contoocook, NH where I served in numerous positions over more than two decades, including nine years as President and Chief Operating Officer, retiring in September 2008. In 2010, after a year serving as the company’s consultant, I became co-owner and Director of Operations for Bovie Printing and Fabrication in Bow, NH. In the fall of 2018, I became sole owner, President and CEO of the company. Over the many years in NH, I have had the great honor of serving on the Board of Directors of several non-profits, including the United Way (two periods of nine years each), Kimball Jenkins, Inc (art school and estate), and the Concord Community Music School. In July 2021, I sold my interest in Bovie Printing and Fabrication and retired for the second and final time. I am now supporting my wife in her Real Estate Brokerage and writing a memoire spanning my lifetime.
