I have been working in the flooring sector for over 18 years since starting as a part time salesman in 1999 whilst at University.Over the course of my career I have been fortunate enough to have played a plethora of roles, from part time sales to regional manager and still to this day enjoy that feeling, when targets are hit. That doesn't detract though from the enjoyment I got from the senior manager side of things, from hiring and developing new managers, to finding, agreeing, merchandising and opening new stores.I am incredibly driven and see man management as one of my best qualities enjoying every aspect of the nurturing and development process and believe that the progression of these people will ultimately reward you in ways nothing else can.After spending 12yrs at Allied Carpets I was made redundant in Apr '12 and was approached by Floors2Go, General George, Allied and were about to complete the purchase of Behar to come on board as Senior Sales Manager for Scotland to help in the merging of the businesses, from the staff, ordering process, targeting system, bonus & commission structures to the computer systems.After spending a year helping stabilise the new business merge I then moved on to Europe's biggest flooring retailer Carpetright in February 2013, taking charge of their Aberdeen store.In the first year here the team managed to achieve just short of 30% Like-For-Like increase and take top spot in the region/division/company receiving store/manager of the year awards. The proceeding two year followed suit the second yielding just shy of 15%+(LFL's) and the third tracking at just over 10%(LFL's).My next step is with what is becoming Britains fastest growing flooring retail in the form of Tapi Carpets & Floors looking to move the flooring industry up and into the 21st century with a fresh approach to selling and an sensory concept to help inspire our customers whilst making the whole process a more natural, enjoyable and personal experience.
