Responsible for analytical support primarily for the design, handling, optical testing, defect analysis, optical performance analysis and manufacturing process simulation of large glass optics. Responsible for several projects functioning as leader, design engineer and analyst. Prepare technical reports and presentations.• Developed the analytical technique to simulate a new glass forming process (using ABAQUS non-linear creep multi-body contact analysis) that is evolving into a growing part of ITT’s capability.• Created an as-built model of a large mirror mapping 1000’s of thickness measurements onto a finite element model requiring several custom tools.• Led a family of Zero CTE, high strength, high stiffness aerospace connectors requiring developing a measurement technique to verify the high axial stiffness.• Designed an internal damming system to control epoxy migration that is now the standard Stycasting process.• Analyzed manufacturing processing of large mirrors to ensure process safety and success.• Analyzed optical testing configurations to determine 1g effects for optical back outs.

Responsible for companywide analytical support of various projects within an internal consulting group.• Analyzed the newest high volume copier frame for stress and deflection which was the first copier to pass the shipping test the first attempt.• Analyzed a new printer (poster size photos) for write drum modes and frame strength. The digital photos were extremely high quality and a very successful product.• Designed an effective cooling system for a new film scanner using FLOTHERM CFD. Previous similar machines all had cooling issues.• Involved in almost every major new hardware program announced by Kodak during 1998 – 2000.

Responsible for sub-system design, program analytical support and program patent coordinator.• Investigated an intermittent image jitter that was the first mode of the scan carriage. Design was modified to increase the first mode 3x to eliminate jitter.• Developed the hardware and procedure for optically aligning the 2 light paths within the Digital Workstation.• Led project that introduced the STARMATE 550 Reader-Printer as a new product in the Kodak Product Line.

Responsible for general mechanical engineering duties in an advanced development group.• Designed the micro-inch displacement actuator (.000001”) for high precision optical positioning. 10x improvement over previous designs.• Led the first attempt to cut thick ULE glass with an abrasive water jet which is now the standard technique for manufacturing honeycomb cores.
