Associate Facilitator

Returned to my previous place of work to fill a gap teaching A level Philosophy and GCSE RE.

I moved from a Pastoral VP role to a Curriculum role including Teaching and Learning and timetabling. I have since moved to a role as sole VP.

Responsibilities include NQT Induction Tutor, Development of Teaching and Learning, Performance Management, CPD, Year 11 GCSE attainment, EVC, Line Management of Subject leaders: Vocational (Public Services, Construction, Beauty). Under my leadership as Year Director for Year 11 in 2012 GCSE attainment increased significantly and the School recorded its best ever results: 44% 5A*C,EM (FFTD target 36%, FFT 3 year trend projection: 31.6%) up from 31% in 2011 and 2010.

I joined the Senior Leadership Team of ACC while the school was in an OFSTED category. Following an unsatisfactory monitoring visit September 2008 the school received a satisfactory inspection judgement in March 2009. ACC was a National Challenge school and was closed August 2010 on the basis that it was considered unlikely to achieve baseline targets of 30% 5A*CEM (FFTD was significantly lower than this figure). I was appointed to the new Leadership Team. I held responsibility for creating and leading one of 4 Colleges during the transition to a mini-school system. Responsibilities included curriculum, attainment and progress, pastoral, staffing, timetabling etc.

I was appointed Head of RE with the brief of introducing GCSE and A level courses to a well established department. This was achieved within 2 years. RE curriculum was completely redesigned. GCSE success was among the best in the school, later leading to full GCSE RE being made compulsory for all. Within 3 years of introduction A level Philosophy and Ethics was attracting 30+ students. I was promoted from this role to Director of College.

When I joined the Channel School it presented a challenging environment with just 4% of students achieving 5A*C in the preceding year. I built the RE department from scratch, introducing GCSE and growing from a sole practitioner department to one with 3 subject specialists.

During my first teaching post I helped to introduce and develop successful GCSE and A level Religious Studies courses.
