As the Head of First Responder Policy at Aurora, I have been establishing best practices for ensuring the safety and compliance of Aurora's self-driving vehicles in various scenarios and jurisdictions for over two years. I work closely with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies to establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration, as well as to provide training and education on the capabilities and limitations of autonomous vehicles.My role at Aurora builds on my extensive background in law enforcement and my core competencies in private investigations, fleet safety, first responder interaction, and policy development. I retired as the ESB Chief of the Enforcement and Compliance Division at the Arizona Department of Transportation, where I oversaw the regulation and enforcement of commercial vehicles and motor carriers. I am passionate about advancing the innovation and adoption of autonomous vehicles, while ensuring the protection and well-being of the public and the environment. I am excited to be part of Aurora's mission to deliver the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly.
